Historic Restoration

Chris Bates has an extensive background in museum quality historic restoration. Most of this experience comes from the restoration of 18th century plantation buildings and historic churches in the Lowcounrty of South Carolina while working as the lead carpentar/job supervisor at  T.W. Graham Restoration. These restorations were done with the upmost care to preserve the historic character and fabric of the building while bringing it into the 21st century. Some of these buildings had never been modified and required installation of plumbing, wiring, heating and air conditioning. There is a great sense of pride in seeing these buildings returned to their original grandeur after having endured decades of poor maintenance, bad utility upgrades, and haphazard additions, some severely affecting the integrity of the structure. The skills learned in transforming these old buildings into modern living spaces makes us uniquely qualified to restore the historic homes of downtown Charleston and Georgetown as well as the  Lowcountry plantations and Craftsman bungalows.  Kingfisher Construction stands apart in its ability to recreate a period design and seamlessly blend an addition to an existing home.
